Patel earns 2023 Frisbey International Student Award

Smit Patel, a junior majoring in business administration at Penn State Abington, has been awarded the 2023 Ardeth and Norman Frisbey International Student Award for undergraduates. The award recognizes undergraduate students who have contributed significantly to furthering international understanding. 

Resources, support and ways to help in Turkey, Syria following earthquake

Roger Brindley, vice provost for Penn State Global; Andrea Dowhower interim vice president for Student Affairs; and Renata Engel, vice provost for online education, share resources available for individuals who have been impacted by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey, as well as ways to help with the rescue and recovery.

Education project aims to improve overdose-death reporting

Accurate reporting on causes of death has direct impacts on mortality data, policy making, and setting priorities in public health. A Penn State-led project aims to educate coroners, medical examiners, and others in the death certifier community in Pennsylvania about the reporting of accidental overdoses due to substance use to help local governments better respond to public health issues.

Electrical engineering student named fall 2022 engineering student marshal

Lixian Yan has been named the fall 2022 student marshal for the Penn State College of Engineering. She will receive her bachelor of science degree with a double major in electrical engineering from the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science within the College of Engineering and in physics (electronics option) from the Eberly College of Science. Yan attended Penn State Abington before transitioning to the University Park campus.

Photo submission for new Penn State id+ cards now active

Penn State students, faculty and staff with older versions of the id+ card are being asked to submit new photos ahead of re-carding events that will be held University-wide during the spring 2023 semester. There are multiple ways to submit a photo, and photos will be accepted from Nov. 7 through Nov. 23.
